About RGS
Ricky’s Guitar & Sound Officially opened in 2023, but I has served local musicians for years before. Having started my musical career as a drummer, I picked up the guitar in 2002 and haven’t laid it down since.
Like most people, I started on instruments that were far from the best quality - and I didn’t know any better. My first acoustic guitar had a half-inch gap between the strings and fretboard and I had no idea you could even fix that!
Since then, I learned how to setup a guitar and much more. I started tinkering with my own instruments and that soon evolved into modifying everything I owned! I created my own pickup system for my acoustic guitar, overhauled my Squier, and completely redid a bass with custom pickups and wiring.
Soon, I was curious about pedal mods, so I learned to solder and my Boss DS-1 underwent a “Keeley” makeover.
Years have passed since then and tons of instruments have come through my shop, many pedals have been made or modded, and even some amps have been repaired.
With time, my workshop became a hub for numerous instruments, pedals, and even amplifier repairs. Recognizing a discernible need in the Anderson County / Campbell County area, I officially opened shop in 2023, equipped with the tools, skills, and a genuine passion for the craft.
